Matt Haggman

Matt created and built Knight Foundation’s initiative aimed at propelling Miami’s startup and entrepreneurial community. Over nearly six years as Miami Director he led the program in an effort to expand opportunity, drive innovation and foster greater problem-solving across one of the most diverse communities in the U.S. This work included more than 200 grants that funded the launch of efforts such as Endeavor Miami, The Idea Center at Miami Dade College, eMerge Americas, Babson WIN Lab, Black Tech Week and 500 Startups Miami, among many others. Upon leaving this role he was called in The Miami Herald “a pioneer who has spearheaded the entrepreneurial movement” in South Florida.

Previously, Matt was an award-winning journalist for nearly a decade at The Miami Herald and Daily Business Review. Matt’s awards include the Gerald Loeb Award, the highest honor in business journalism. Matt currently serves on the boards of Endeavor Miami and New World Symphony, the Leadership Group of MIT Solve, and U.S. Global Leadership Coalition’s Florida Advisory Committee. A year ago, Matt was a candidate for U.S. Congress.

Originally from Cambridge, Mass., Matt has degrees from Tulane University and Vermont Law School.

Andres Moreno

Andrés Moreno is the Chairman and CEO of Open Education, the leader in internet-based instruction in Latin America. In this capacity he oversees the company’s holdings, including Open English, the #1 online language platform in Latin America and Next U, the fastest growing online technology skills learning platform in the same region. Open Education has enrolled +750,000 students since founding and raised over USD $135 million in venture capital to drive the company’s expansion.

Growing up in eight countries spanning three continents, Andres developed a passion and appreciation for learning languages. He previously co-founded Optimal English, a company that provided English-language training to Latin American executives at Fortune 500 companies.

Andres is a multifaceted entrepreneur involved in a myriad of projects of regional impact. He is a founding partner at Escala Ventures, a company builder and scale-up accelerator focused on the SaaS space. He’s also a founding board member and Co-Chair of Endeavor Miami, a leading promoter of entrepreneurship present in more than 16 countries. Moreno travels frequently to Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries to hold conferences on success and entrepreneurship. He’s also the recipient of a number of notable awards, including Babson College recognizing him as the “Latin American Entrepreneur of Decade” and the Software Report selecting him as one of the top 25 Education Technology CEOs of 2019.
