This class is a 4-day series running on four consecutive Monday nights on February 9, 16, 23, and March 2nd from 6:30pm to 9:00pm each day. The cost covers all 4 nights.
PHP is the language that powers Facebook, Wikipedia, WordPress, and more-in fact, it is the most common server-side language on the web! PHP was one of the first and still is the most popular language on the web for building dynamic websites without having to compile code. As a server side language, PHP allows authors to retrieve data from any database, manipulate it and display it on the web, enabling users to interact with it.
We will go over the basics of programming with PHP-variables, functions, loops, and more! We will also show you how to connect your code to a MySQL database. By the end of the class you will have a fully functional PHP website.
Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS is reccomended for this class. You do not need any programming experience. Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome, both men and women.
Please note that this is a four part class.
Tech Requirements for this class:
• Your laptop.
• A modern browser with either Chrome and the “Web Developer” extension or Firefox and Firebug installed.
• A text editor. We recommend Sublime Text (It’s free and available for both Mac and PC).

About Girl Develop It Miami:
We aim to grow and empower the female tech community of Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. Do not miss this opportunity to meet other women interested in technology and local developers.
At Girl Develop It Miami, we aim to inspire women to see the greatness within them and mentor them as they start a career or transition into a career in computer science, and create a better life for themselves.
Girl Develop It (GDI) launched in 2010 with a simple concept; make software development accessible and affordable to all women in New York City with little to no development or training experience. GDI now has 36 chapters and is an international 501c3 non-profit organization. The massive growth is projected to help women throughout the globe enhance their skill sets, illuminate their passions or hobbies to make beautiful code and websites, and spread the principles of effective software development.
